Runners and Foot Injuries: We know what you need
Runners aren’t like other people. Most people don’t want to push themselves to the limit, don’t thrill in making their body go that (literal) extra mile, and don’t always understand the sheer joy of going step after step, foot after foot, mile after mile. And most doctors don’t understand exactly what runners put their bodies through. Runners, especially but not only long-distance runners, put an enormous amount of stress on their feet and legs. They need a podiatric facility where that is understood. At the Center for Podiatric Care and Sports Medicine, we have that. Because we’re runners too.
The Center is a diagnostic and treatment facility with decades of experience in diagnosing foot and ankle injuries. We know that each patient is unique and needs a unique treatment. We don’t just have knowledge and comfort using the latest technology. We also have experience in running, both as runners ourselves and as podiatrists for some of the world’s top runners and races. We use that experience to help us fully understand what you are going through and what you need.
Our running qualifications include:
- Running experience. Both Dr. Geldwert and Dr. Lai are marathon runners

They say you never want a skinny chef or a bald barber. Neither of that is probably true, but it helps to have someone understand what you are going through. Running puts a unique strain on a body, leading to chronic conditions like plantar fasciitis and shin splints, not to mention sudden injuries like ankle sprains or bone bruises. At the Center for Podiatric Care and Sports Medicine, we run. We know what it is like to run. And we know how to get you back out there, doing what you love, as quickly and as pain-free as possible.
If you have suffered a runners injury or have a long-term and chronic condition, please come in and see the dedicated staff at the Center for Podiatric Care and Sports Medicine. Contact us to find out more!
