Why See A Doctor Specializing In Sports Injuries?
You may be unsure where to seek treatment for your Larchmont sports injury – and rightfully so. There are many types of doctors who claim to treat fractures, chronic foot pain, or conditions like Achilles tendinitis. You can choose to visit the hospital emergency room, a general practitioner, orthopedist, chiropractor, pain management specialist, rheumatologist or any number of other options.
Here are a few reasons we think you should see one of our Larchmont area sports medicine doctors instead:
- We have experience in treating athletes and serving their unique interests.
- We offer the latest technologies and therapies used by professional athletes.
- We understand your desire to get back to training and competition as soon as possible.
- We counsel you on how to prepare mentally and physically for your recovery.
- We are fully equipped to perform gait analysis to uncover biomechanical issues.
- We are also equipped with computerized orthotic scanning to make custom shoe inserts.
- We believe an accurate diagnosis is essential to treat the cause of your injury, rather than just prescribing a medication that treats the symptoms.
New Technologies for Foot and Ankle Sports Injuries
We are excited to be on the cutting edge of technology. Patients with Larchmont sports injuries are given the royal treatment at our facility, with therapies used by top-caliber professional athletes like Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant. For instance, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections have helped many of our patients heal naturally and twice as fast, so they can resume competition sooner.
Pain therapies like Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, TENS treatment, MLS and MIX5 laser therapy have delivered amazing results for people who have “tried it all” for plantar fasciitis, arthritis pain, and tendinitis. Doctors at our ultra-modern gait analysis center use computers and treadmill sensors to pick up on gait abnormalities that shift the body out of alignment and cause overuse sports injuries over time.
Who We Are
We have treated more than 20,000 injuries at The Center for Podiatric Care and Sports Medicine. Our facility was founded in 1990 by Dr. Josef J. Geldwert, a board-certified podiatric surgeon with nearly 40 years of experience. He currently serves as the official Team Podiatrist for the NY Lizards lacrosse team and consults for the Central Park Track Club, New York Road Runners Club, A&P Tennis Classic, Newsweek Tennis Classic, NY Magic and NY Liberty. He works with Dr. Ryan Minara who completed a four-year Foot and Ankle residency at NY Hospital Queens after earning a doctorate at New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Our third professional is Dr. Katherine Lai, an experienced board-certified foot surgeon with over 25 years of experience.
A Personalized Approach
Dr. Geldwert, Dr. Minara, and Dr. Lai make the patient experience their top priority. We have some athletes who prefer all-natural, holistic healing options – which is a specialty of Dr. Lai. Some people come in asking about a specific medication they heard about or looking for custom orthotics. Other athletes are interested in the latest non-invasive treatment options, while others want to cut right to the chase and schedule surgery. Whatever your personal philosophy is, we are happy to accommodate you. At our office, you will spend less time in the waiting room and more time with knowledgeable doctors.
