Sports Injury Statistics
According to data from the NY Hospital Queens:
- More than 3.5 million sports injuries take children out of the game each year.
- Sports injuries account for nearly one-third of all childhood injuries.
- Sprains and strains are the most common injuries.
- More than 775,000 kids under age 14 are treated in the ER for sports injuries each year.
- The most dangerous sports for kids are football (215,000 injuries), bicycling (200,000), basketball (170,000) and baseball/softball (110,000).
